Precautions for Packing Plywood into Containers

Plywood is made of different woods-Poplar/Eucalyptus/Linden/Birch/Pine etc. Different wood has different densities. So the loading quantity can be different base on the weight limit of destination ports. What we are talking about here is cargo in the container which is the way you choose when the quantity is not large. If buying in large quantities by bulk ship, you can skip this article.

Let’s come back to our story. Although, the weight limit of ports can be different, normally, this limit is ≤26mts. This limit is basically the truck/train’s weight limit of destination ports and cranes weight bearing to grab the container down from the ship.

Today, we are going to take the size of 1220*2440mm, for example, to show the loading quantity in one 40HQ, as considering the shipping cost, 40HQ is the most cost-effective way if cargo needs to be loaded by the container.

To load the plywood into the container, we need to pack cargo on the pallet, so it can be put into the container by forklift. The high of cargo on the pallet is ≤900mm, so the container space can be used in the most efficient way.

As above, here below are the loading details in different thicknesses
